Young people in Port Moody have a chance to bend the ears of the city’s civic leaders and maybe even have an impact on its future direction.
The 2024 Mayor’s Youth Summit will be held Friday, Oct. 25, at the Inlet Theatre and Galleria (100 Newport Dr.).
The day-long event — from 8:30 a.m.to 3:15 p.m. — brings together youth from grades 8 through 12, along with city officials and other community leaders, to discuss issues like climate justice, mental health and wellness, social connectivity and youth spaces.
Port Moody Mayor Meghan Lahti said the city needs to consider all the voices in the community when making decisions about its future and young people bring unique insights and experiences.
“The goals of the summit are to empower youth voices, foster collaboration and gain input that will help inform council’s future policy decisions,” she said in a news release.
“Together, we can create a brighter future for everyone.”
